Middlesex County, Massachusetts
Middlesex County is the largest county in the state (by population) It has ranked first in the state for growth in population during the 1990´s. With a population estimated at 1,465,396 in the year 2000, the citizens work together to ensure the county continues to grow and improve offering a wonderful place to live and acquire employment.
Middlesex County seat is Cambridge. Middlesex exists today as a historical geographic region. There is no government, county council or commissioner. In 1997, the county government was abolished. Sheriffs and other regional officials are elected to hold the duties within the county region.
 According to the US Census Bureau, Middlesex County has a total area of 2,195 km² (848 mi²) with 2,133 km² (823 mi²) of land and 62 km² (24 mi²) of water. There are a total of 19 county parks encompassing 7,020 acres of conservation land and recreational facilities. For the golf fanatics, Middlesex offers 3 courses.
County officials are determined to maintain and enhance the environment so the citizens can continue to enjoy the attractions, neighborhoods, activities, and also have a strong economic base. Industries providing employment: Educational, health and social services (23.8%), Professional, scientific, management, administrative, and waste management services (16.0%), Manufacturing (12.3%)
